Derek Wong

Derek Wong currently serves as Vice President of Government Relations and Public Affairs at Excelerate Energy, leading efforts in government relations, corporate social responsibility, and public affairs since October 2019. Prior roles include Senior Director of Government and Public Affairs and Senior Director of Planning and Government Relations at the U.S. Embassy in Buenos Aires. Derek's extensive experience in the U.S. Department of State encompasses various roles such as Foreign Service Officer and Policy Advisor, specializing in economic relations, cyber policy, and human trafficking issues. With a background in consulting and nonprofit services, Derek has contributed to economic analyses, strategic planning, and public engagement across multiple international contexts. Derek holds a BS in Economics from The Wharton School, an MPA from the London School of Economics, and a BA in International Studies from the University of Pennsylvania.
