Vivene also developed policies, procedures, and advisories to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices. Additionally, Vivene has experience as the President of the Canadian Bar Association, where they served from September 2019 to August 2020. Vivene also worked as an Enforcement Policy Counsel at the Mutual Fund Dealers Association of Canada and as a Lawyer at Gowling WLG. Vivene Salmon Gagné obtained a BA (Hons) degree in Political Science & English from Wilfrid Laurier University, graduating in the years 1996-2000. Vivene then pursued a MPA (Master of Public Administration) degree at Queen's University from 2005 to 2006. Subsequently, they attended the University of Ottawa from 2006 to 2009, earning a Doctor of Law (JD) degree. During their studies, Vivene Salmon Gagné also participated in an exchange program at Lund University in Sweden, focusing on law, in 2009.
Vivene Salmon Gagné has also obtained various certifications throughout their career. In 2011, they completed the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) offered by the Canadian Securities Institute (CSI). In 2012, they completed the Partners, Directors & Senior Officers Course (PDO) and the Conduct & Practices Handbook Course (CPH) from CSI. In 2014, they obtained the Derivatives Fundamentals Course (DFC) certification, followed by the Trader Training Course (TT) in 2015. Vivene also became a Certified Information Privacy Professional - Canada (CIPP/C) accredited by the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) in 2015. Additionally, in 2016, they passed the Chief Compliance Officers Qualifying Examination (CCO) provided by the Canadian Securities Institute (CSI). Recently, in 2021 and 2022, Vivene Salmon Gagné obtained the PADI® Open Water Diver certification from PADI and completed the Innovation Governance Program (Board Governance) iGP I & iGP II by the Innovation Governance Program (iGP) - Canadian Council of Innovators.
