Vera Grass

International Election Observer at FBA (Folke Bernadotte Academy)

Vera Grass is a Youth, Peace and Security Officer at the Folke Bernadotte Academy (FBA) since January 2020, focusing on conflict prevention and peacebuilding in Iraq. Previously, Vera worked within the Security Sector Reform (SSR) programme and the Mali programme at FBA. Academic qualifications include a Master's degree in Politics and War from the Swedish Defence University and a Bachelor's degree in Political Science and Government from Uppsala University, supplemented by studies in Politics and International Relations at Sciences Po. Additionally, Vera gained experience as a researcher in risk management at Robert Walters, an intern at SIPRI focusing on the Sahel and West Africa, and a trainee at the Embassy of Sweden in France. Currently pursuing Arabic language studies at Stockholm University.

The Folke Bernadotte Academy (FBA) is the Swedish government agency for peace, security and development. FBA supports international peace operations and international development cooperation. The agency conducts training, research and method development in order to strengthen peacebuilding and statebuilding in conflict and post-conflict countries. We also recruit civilian personnel and expertise for peace operations and election observation missions led by the EU, UN and OSCE.
