J.R. Tilson has a diverse work experience spanning various industries. In 1998, they began their professional journey as a Specialist in the U.S. Army, serving until 2001. After their military service, they joined Abercrombie & Fitch as a Legal Analyst, where they drafted legal documents and ensured corporate compliance with employment laws. In 2010, J.R. transitioned to Marcus & Millichap as a Financial Analyst, contributing to over $20 million in commercial real estate sales. J.R. also participated in training sessions covering financial analysis, client communications, and negotiations. From 2011 to 2016, J.R. worked at CBRE as an Associate in the National Tax Credit Advisory Group. At RED CAPITAL GROUP, between 2016 and 2018, they held the role of Assistant Vice President. J.R. then joined Homeport in 2019 as a Real Estate Project Manager, responsible for managing real estate projects. J.R.'smost recent experience is as a Commercial Relationship Associate at FCBank, starting in August 2022.

J.R. Tilson pursued their education at The Ohio State University, earning a JD degree in Business Law from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law. J.R. also completed an MBA program with a focus on Finance at The Ohio State University Fisher College of Business. The JD degree was pursued from 2005 to 2009, while the MBA program was undertaken from 2006 to 2008.
