Rebecca Thomas

Rebecca Thomas is an experienced legal professional currently serving as a Senior Legal Counsel at the Financial Ombudsman Service since January 2014, focusing on litigation, employment matters, and judicial review risks. Prior to this role, Rebecca worked as an Ombudsman in the PPI jurisdiction team and has been self-employed as a barrister since 2004, with a current secondment to the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) in the professional regulatory field. Previous positions include Regulatory Barrister at the NMC, where significant misconduct cases were prosecuted, and various roles as a barrister in both criminal and civil law, including successful appeals in higher courts. Early legal experience includes serving as a Senior Crown Prosecutor with the Crown Prosecution Service and as a Legal Adviser to the magistrates' court. Education was completed at the Inns of Court School of Law with a focus on the Bar vocational course.
