Anstiss Agnew, LCSW, is Senior Advisor to Forestdale, researching new strategies – especially those to ensure that when young people leave foster care they have the resources and caring support to succeed socially, academically and professionally. Ms. Agnew formerly served as Forestdale’s Executive Director from 2006 – 2016. Ms. Agnew brings more than 40 years of experience in organizational leadership and therapeutic practice, including eight years as Associate Director and Executive Director of Inwood House. An expert in adolescent health, Ms. Agnew began her career in 1971 as coordinator of a community mental health center in New Mexico.

Forestdale’s roots go back 165 years, when a group of women affiliated with a church in Brooklyn founded an industrial school for children, which in 1980 became Forestdale. Forestdale is the only child welfare agency headquartered in Queens, with an exclusive focus on the particular needs of Queens' and Brooklyn communities & families.
