Marc X. Makkes

Marc X. Makkes, Ph.D., serves as the Head of Product & Innovation at Fortaegis Technologies since February 2023 and is an Assistant Professor at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam since November 2020. With a strong background in blockchain technology, Makkes previously held roles as System Architect Team Lead at BlockTech B.V. and Researcher at Centrum Wiskunde & Informatica. Earlier academic positions include Assistant Professor and Researcher at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, where Makkes contributed to the teaching of advanced topics in distributed systems. Makkes earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Computer Science from the University of Amsterdam and holds a Master's degree in Information Security Technology from Eindhoven University of Technology. Professional experience also includes roles as a Technical Scientist at TNO and various positions in security consulting.
