Jonathan Canning has a diverse work experience spanning over several companies. Jonathan currently serves as the Outsourced Chief Legal Officer & Company Secretary at Freeths LLP since September 2021. Jonathan Canning's education history includes several different programs and institutions. In 1990, they attended the University of Central Lancashire and earned a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree with honors. From 1993 to 1994, they studied Law and Computing at Queen's University Belfast. In 1994, they enrolled at The University of Law and completed a Legal Practice Course.

Later on, in 2012, Jonathan attended LBCambridge and completed a Market leading In-House Legal Skills Course within the same year. In 2012, they also completed an Advanced Management & Development Coaching for Senior In-House Lawyers program at LBCambridge 2, which they attended until 2013. In 2018, Jonathan participated in an Invitation Only Advanced Business Leadership & Influencing Coaching program at LBCambridge 3.
