Kim Kaplan is an experienced educator specializing in special education with a career spanning over four decades. Currently serving as a Special Education Support Specialist at Friendship Circle of Michigan since June 2013, Kim focuses on teaching social skills, life skills, and vocational training. In addition, Kim has been a Special Education Consultant since January 2000, providing families with behavioral and educational support to promote independence. Previously, Kim held special education teaching roles in the West Bloomfield School District from August 1997 to June 2013 and in Oak Park Schools from February 1980 to June 1997.

The Friendship Circle provides assistance and support to the families of children with special needs. In addition to helping those in need, the Friendship Circle enriches its vast network of volunteers by enabling them to reap the rewards of selfless giving. Our affiliate, Friendship House, provides support to individuals and families struggling with addiction, isolation, and other crises. The Friendship Circle was founded on the idea that within each person is a soul, and that soul is the same regardless of any limitations that may surround it. That regardless of whatever natural gifts we may have or lack, regardless of what obstacles and challenges we may confront, our souls are sacred and worthy of boundless love. We believe that every human being, regardless of background or faith, deserves the gift of true friendship. Friendship has a ripple effect on the community, impacting the lives of all involved, raising the consciousness of society at large.
