Professor Lee Margetts

Professor Lee Margetts currently serves as the Director of the Fusion Engineering Centre for Doctoral Training and Discipline Head of Education for Mechanical Engineering at The University of Manchester, with a career spanning over two decades at the institution. Additionally, Professor Margetts holds the position of UKAEA Chair of Digital Engineering for Fusion Energy and has contributed to the field as a Programme Director for Mechanical Engineering and Reader in Structural Integrity. Editorial roles include membership on the Editorial Boards of major journals such as Advances in Engineering Software and Biomechanics. With a background in civil engineering, Professor Margetts completed an MBA in International Engineering Business Management, alongside advanced degrees in civil and geotechnical engineering from The University of Manchester and a BSc in Geology from Durham University. Prior professional experiences include roles at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, PRACE, the University of Oxford, and Surrey County Council.
