Future Radio

Future Radio is the Community Radio Station for Norwich. We are the only local radio station broadcasting from Norwich for Norwich. A music, speech & arts focused community radio station with over 60 volunteers, we broadcast to c.192,000 people in the Greater Norwich area on 107.8FM, DAB via futureradio.co.uk. Launching in 2007, Future Radio was one of the first community radio stations based in East Anglia, and was the first station nationally to be awarded an extended licence by Ofcom. Working with our volunteers, businesses and local organisations, we produce live local content, radio commissions & more original programming than many other radio stations in the region. Future Radio is part of the charitable organisation Future Projects, which was formed in 2000 to engage and empower communities across Norwich. Supporting Future Radio means helping a valuable charity, as every penny generated is directed back into the work Future Projects does to help those most in need across Norfolk and Norwich. Since launching, Future Radio has won multiple awards. We’ve also inspired people to achieve a career and gain skills and have trained numerous Radio DJs, such as Greg James, host of BBC Radio 1’s Breakfast Show. Many of our trainees go on to work & produce programmes at the BBC & commercial radio stations. Not to mention Ed Sheeran, who famously launched his career at our music competition – The Next Big Thing. Programming on Future Radio offers a means of targeting specific communities & demographics, many of which do not engage with other local media services. Our audience of 42,000 listeners each month is primarily a broad, young adult audience, with certain areas of our programming specifically covering older and youth audiences.
