Jon Winchester is a Wind Technical Director at GIA Surveyors since November 2020. Prior to this role, Jon held positions as Chief CFD Engineer and CFD Engineer at Wirth Research from November 2011 to October 2020. Jon holds a PhD in renewable energy from Lancaster University, an MS in Mechanical Engineering from the same university, and a BS in Mathematics from the University of Warwick. Jon attended Lancaster Royal Grammar School from 1993 to 2000.

Recent landmark cases we have had major involvement with, include: The Whitechapel Inquiry , Buckle Street, and Cantium Retail Park. We are co-founders of VU.CITY: a highly accurate, fully interactive 3D digital twin of our cities that helps people create, refine, share and understand the journey of development, visually and articulately, to make better design and planning decisions, faster. GIA Surveyors have developed a bespoke plug-in app, that's fully compatible with the VU.CITY smart city platform, that’s changing the way the industry assesses, Daylight, Sunlight and Rights of Light. Individually and collaboratively, we’re assisting in future proofing the built environment.
