Josh Levy-Kramer is an experienced AI Applications Engineer at Graphcore since June 2021, focusing on training and inference of Large Language Models using C++ and Python. Prior to this, Josh held the position of Senior Data Scientist (AI Engineering) at GSK, where supply chain modelling and optimisation were key areas of work. Experience also includes roles as a Senior NLP Engineer at Factmata and an AI Research Engineer at Babylon Health, contributing to machine learning techniques involving NLP and information retrieval systems. Josh has extensive experience in data science, having led data science initiatives at Outra and worked on social media data analytics at Starcount Insights alongside industry leaders. Earlier roles included a research placement at the University of Bristol and various positions within data analytics consultancies. Josh holds a Master in Science (MSci) in Physics from the University of Bristol.

Graphcore has created a new processor, the Intelligence Processing Unit (IPU), specifically designed for artificial intelligence. The IPU’s unique architecture means developers can run current machine learning models orders of magnitude faster. More importantly, it lets AI researchers undertake entirely new types of work, not possible using current technologies, to drive the next great breakthroughs in general machine intelligence.
