Rory McPherson

Rory McPherson is a Senior GIS Analyst at Greater Wellington Regional Council since March 2024, with a robust background in Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Previously, Rory served as a Principal GIS Analyst at Stantec from July 2019 to March 2024, providing GIS support for transportation and water projects while enhancing organizational capabilities across Australia and New Zealand. Rory’s experience includes roles at Wellington Water as an Information Officer, where GIS was utilized to inform three waters management decisions, and contract positions with Critchlow Ltd and Victoria University of Wellington, focusing on cartographic design improvements and creating an ESRI story map application, respectively. Academically, Rory holds an MSc in Geographic Information Science with Honours from the University of Canterbury and a BSc in Geography with an emphasis in Geographic Information Science from the University of Arizona.
