Highland Capital Partners
Dan's venture career began in a typical way, working as an associate at a large investment firm. Then the internet changed everything.
When the internet came bubbling along, he helped found CMG@Ventures to focus on investing in Web 1.0 companies. His first deal was Lycos, the world’s original ad-supported search engine. Dan conceived of and formed Lycos, provided its initial (and only) venture capital, and recruited its Founding CEO Bob Davis, who was my\\his former boss and who he later recruited to Highland.
Lycos was a rocket ship. It became the fastest IPO in Nasdaq history (nine months from inception to offering) and was eventually acquired for $12.5B. Since then, he’s been hooked on early stage investing.
At Highland, he focuses on disruptive commerce and future of work, but he also has specific experience and interest in new media as well as digital marketing. Dan represents Highland on the boards of Catalant, Clearbanc, Kyruus, RapidSOS, Rent the Runway and ThredUp.
