Bala Krishnan is an accomplished technology executive with extensive experience in leadership roles within the information technology sector. Currently serving as the Chief Information Officer and a member of the Executive Management Team at the Health Information and Quality Authority since January 2018, Bala previously held the position of Strategic Business Partner Lead at the Office of the Government CIO. Prior to that, a significant tenure at KBC Bank Ireland lasted from June 1996 to February 2017, where various senior roles were undertaken, including Head of Core Applications and Associate Director. Bala began the career as a Senior Consultant at Hexaware Technologies in 1995. Educational qualifications include an Advanced Management Program from Harvard Business School, an M.B.A from Dublin City University, and a Master’s Degree in Strategic Quality Management from the University of Limerick.

The Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) is an independent statutory authority established to promote safety and quality in the provision of health and social care services for the benefit of the health and welfare of the public. Our mandate to date extends across a wide range of public, private and voluntary sector services.
