Louis Fleming

Louis Fleming currently serves as the Director of Health and Safety at Hitachi Rail, overseeing the $9B Ontario Line Rail Project. Previous experience includes roles at Bechtel Corporation, where responsibilities encompassed HSE Lead Execution for the BHP Jansen Potash Mine and the ORPIC Liwa Plastics Industrial Complex, along with serving as Senior ES&H/HSE Specialist for the FortisBC LNG Expansion Project. Additional roles involved project risk management for Bechtel’s Mining and Metals team and serving as an Environmental, Safety and Health Risk advisor for various projects, including those for Rio Tinto and BHP Billiton. Louis began a career in the Australian Army and later transitioned into project management, establishing a strong foundation in safety and risk management through advanced education, including an MBA and postgraduate certifications. Upcoming studies include a Certificate of Safety Leadership from the University of New Brunswick.
