Josh Gaffney

Josh Gaffney currently serves as General Counsel at Hometap since June 2023. Prior to this role, Gaffney was Chief Privacy Officer and General Counsel at BANYAN, where responsibilities included managing legal and operational risks for a B2B fintech startup. From January 2010 to July 2021, Gaffney held various positions at American Express, culminating as Managing Counsel for Global Consumer Services, and played a key role in guiding the consumer business through legal complexities. Earlier experience includes positions as Associate at Flaster Greenberg PC and Wolff & Samson PC, focusing on bankruptcy and commercial litigation, as well as a law clerk for Chief Judge Rosemary Gambardella. Gaffney's education includes a JD from Rutgers University School of Law and a BS in Criminal Justice from Northeastern University, along with a Leadership Coaching certificate from Rutgers University.
