John Pedati began their career in 1981 at Macy's, where they held various roles including DTC Field Retail Sales and Buying Line. John then joined Nike in 1989, starting as a Territory Sales Rep and eventually working their way up to roles such as Lead Account Executive, Channel Sales Manager, and Category Sales Director. At Nike, they demonstrated strong leadership and achieved impressive sales results, including developing international sales strategies that resulted in $1 billion in revenues and achieving a historical #1 market share for running in Tokyo. In 2021, they joined Hurley as the Vice President of Sales/Marketing.

John Pedati attended Georgetown University from 1981 to 1985, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Bachelor of Arts.

The history of Hurley traces its roots back to the surf industry in Southern California in the late 1970's. Hurley Surfboards was established in Costa Mesa in 1979. Well into the early 1980's, Hurley Surfboards was excelling as a company and Bob was shaping surfboards for many of the best surfers in the world. In 1982, Bob and hisbusiness manager, Joe K., began pursuing a hot Australian clothing brand, Billabong. Bob was attracted to the company because of their super long, punk rock boardshort styles. With the help of friends and family, Billabong USA was established as a separate entity and licensee for Billabong.
