Shimon Unterman is a highly skilled biomedical engineer with extensive experience in the development and validation of medical technologies. Since July 2017, Shimon has served as Principal Scientist at Hyalex Orthopaedics Inc., where responsibilities include the development of synthetic cartilage biomaterials and preclinical testing of device-adhesive biomaterials. Previously, Shimon was a Postdoctoral Associate at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 2013 to 2017, focusing on tissue-tailored orthopedic biomaterials for drug delivery and tissue engineering. As a PhD Candidate at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine from 2005 to 2012, Shimon designed and validated a composite soft tissue filler and developed innovative hydrogels to enhance stem cell differentiation and joint lubrication. Shimon holds a PhD in Biomedical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University and a BS in Biomedical Engineering from Northwestern University.
