Ifakara Health Institute

Ifakara Health Institute (IHI) is one of Africa’s most eminent health research organisations. With a history of more than 50 years, IHI is an independent non-profit organisation, registered in Tanzania and led by Tanzanians. IHI enjoys collaborations with world-renowned centres of tropical health research. With a staff of 450, including 25 PhD scientists, IHI publishes over 100 articles per year in peer-reviewed journals. IHI conducts a wide range of health-related research, covering areas such as malaria; neglected and emerging tropical diseases; maternal, neonatal and child health and demography. Disciplinary research groups include biomedical & environmental studies, clinical trials, health-systems research, monitoring and evaluation and policy translation. The organisation has offices in Ifakara, Dar es Salaam and Bagamoyo.
