Structures Lead at Illini Solar Car

Jeffrey Ma is currently serving as Structures Lead and Mechanical Team Member at Illini Solar Car since August 2023, where significant contributions include performing topology optimization and simulations in ANSYS, resulting in a 52.82% weight savings for the rear suspension redesign, as well as designing innovative motor controller mounts and switch mechanisms. Previously, as Design Team Lead for Team 4523 – Raid Zero in the FIRST Robotics Competition from August 2020 to June 2023, notable achievements included designing efficient mechanisms, winning multiple regional competitions, and ranking in the global challenges. Jeffrey also gained research experience as a Research Assistant at the Bio-Inspired Robotics Laboratory at National Taiwan University, where projects involved developing a rocker-bogie rover and self-balancing platforms. In addition to technical roles, Jeffrey served as a Teaching Assistant for a Mechanical Engineering summer course, promoting STEM education. Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, Jeffrey also holds a High School Diploma from Taipei American School.
