Jeannie Barrett

Jeannie Barrett serves as the General Counsel at Illinois State University since June 2022, acting as the Chief Legal Officer. Prior to this role, Jeannie Barrett spent over 23 years at Georgia State University, holding various positions including Chief Counsel for Employment and Senior Associate General Counsel, where responsibilities included advising university leadership on legal and compliance issues, managing the Access and Accommodations Center, and leading HIPAA compliance initiatives. Educationally, Jeannie Barrett earned a J.D. from the University of Georgia School of Law, a M.Ed. in Student Personnel in Higher Education from The University of Georgia, and a B.S. in Organizational Communication from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
