Peter Thomas is an accomplished engineer and scientist with extensive experience in system integration and research within the biotechnology field. Currently serving as a Senior Staff Integration Engineer/Scientist at Illumina since July 2017, Peter has led initiatives in developing low-cost nucleic acid sample preparation devices and managing collaborations with global manufacturers. Previous roles include various scientific positions at Fluidigm Corporation, contributions to breast cancer research through microfluidic cell culture device development, and a postdoctoral associate position at the University of Wisconsin. Peter also has experience in business development and technology transfer from an internship at Sigma Aldrich, and has contributed to research at NIST, the University of Maryland, and the National Institutes of Health. Peter holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Bioengineering from the University of Maryland and a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Florida.
