Maarten Burssens has a diverse work experience that spans over multiple companies and industries. Maarten started their career as a Consultant-engineer at Callataÿ & Wouters SA, where they worked on various development and testing projects. Maarten then joined Accenture as a Consultant and later became a Manager, focusing on consulting and project delivery in the financial sector. After Accenture, Maarten worked as a Senior Project Manager at Ness Technologies and then moved on to bpost, where they held several roles including IT Management Consultant, Manager BI Delivery Center, and Program Manager. Maarten also worked as an Associate at :: projective, where they specialized in project and program management for financial services. Prior to their current role, Maarten worked as a Senior Project Manager (freelance) at ING Belgium, managing software implementations and coordinating cross-border teams. Currently, they are employed at imec as a Digital Strategy Director, responsible for strengthening the value creation and leveraging digital technology disruption in a sustainable and secure manner. Overall, Maarten has a wealth of experience in project management, strategic consulting, and business relationship management across different industries.
Maarten Burssens completed their Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering at KU Leuven from 1997 to 2002. In 2011, they attended Vlerick Business School for a course on Creating Value with Business Intelligence. Additionally, they have obtained several certifications, including online certificates from INSEAD in Innovation, Leading Organisations in Disruptive Times, Strategy in the Age of Digital Disruption, and Design Thinking and Creativity for Business. Maarten also holds a certification as a lifeguard obtained from Vlaamse Reddingsfederatie in 1996.
