Carsten Johansen has extensive work experience in the finance and energy sectors. Carsten began their career at BMW Group as a Trainee, where they handled order management for Asian partners and budgeted new models for Asian markets.

Carsten then joined GE Energy Financial Services, where they held various roles over the course of 19 years. As an Executive Director, they were responsible for originating, executing, and managing equity investments and joint venture partnerships across the energy sector, with a focus on renewables, thermal energy, and infrastructure projects. Carsten also served as a Director and an M&A Finance Manager, overseeing financial oversight, acquisitions, disposals, and strategic alliances across Europe, including commercial banking and debt portfolio acquisitions.

After their tenure at GE, Carsten joined Global Water Development Partners, an investment platform established by The Blackstone Group. As an Executive Director, they identified, developed, financed, constructed, and operated water and waste infrastructure opportunities, with a particular focus on large-scale treatment plants, desalination facilities, and waste-to-energy projects.

Currently, Carsten Johansen is the Managing Director of Private Equity / Infrastructure at Impax Asset Management. Their responsibilities include raising capital, managing energy investments, and developing investment platforms for energy projects across various regions.

Throughout their career, Carsten has successfully invested in energy projects, acquired commercial banks, raised third-party financing, and secured mandates in gas distribution and LNG infrastructure projects. Their expertise spans private equity, asset management, capital markets, energy investments, and infrastructure development.

Carsten Johansen earned a Bachelor's Degree in International Business from Copenhagen Business School in 1997. Carsten then completed a Bachelor's Degree in Business Economics & International Business from London Metropolitan University in 1999. In 2000, Carsten obtained a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Accounting & Finance from The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).
