Ioannis Moraitis has extensive experience in electrical power engineering and management, currently serving as the Director of the Research Technology & Development Department at IPTO-Independent Power Transmission Operator since January 2012, with responsibilities including congestion management and capacity allocation. Prior roles include Special Advisor to the Minister of Environment & Energy and the Deputy Minister of Environment & Energy from August 2019 to December 2021, and various engineering positions at HTSO Hellenic Transmission System Operator, PPC S.A., EYDAP, Schneider Electric, and ABB-ELTEC K.G. Ioannis holds a Master of Science in Electrical Power Engineering from The University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology and a diploma in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Democritus University of Thrace. Additionally, Ioannis completed a final dissertation as an ERASMUS student at the University of Aberdeen in Power Electronics.

The Independent Power Transmission Operator (IPTO or ADMIE) S.A. undertakes the role of Transmission System Operator for the Greek Electricity Transmission System.
