Tomi Riipinen

Vice President, Quantum Systems at IQM

Tomi Riipinen has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Tomi is currently serving as the Head of Software at IQM Quantum Computers since 2023. From 2018 to 2023, they worked at Mitsubishi Logisnext Europe Oy, where they held various roles including Director of Software Development and Software Development Manager.

Prior to that, Tomi worked at ABB from 2012 to 2018 in different capacities, such as Principal Engineer and Senior Design Engineer, focusing on embedded software engineering for solar inverters.

Tomi also gained research and project management experience at Lappeenranta University of Technology from 2006 to 2012. Additionally, they worked as a Lecturer, teaching a course on Integrated Circuit Design.

Earlier in their career, Tomi worked at Environics Oy as an R&D Engineer/Trainee, where they designed electronics and embedded software. Tomi also worked at ATK-Team Ky as a System Architect, handling IT infrastructure design and planning.

Furthermore, they briefly worked at Enics as an Automated Electronics Assemblyline Worker. Overall, Tomi Riipinen has demonstrated a strong background in software development, project management, and research throughout their career.

Tomi Riipinen completed their education at LUT University, where they earned a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Electrical Engineering from 2002 to 2007. Tomi continued their studies at LUT University and obtained a Doctor of Science (D.Sc.) in Electrical Engineering from 2007 to 2012. Prior to university, they graduated from Pieksämäen lukio secondary school in 2000. Additionally, Tomi Riipinen holds a certification as a Certified SAFe® 4 Agilist, obtained in June 2019 from Scaled Agile, Inc.
