Mattia Serra

Associate Research Fellow at ISPI

Mattia Serra is a skilled academic and social professional with a solid background in Middle Eastern studies. Currently serving as a Junior Research Fellow at ISPI - Istituto per gli Studi di Politica Internazionale since September 2021, Mattia also gained valuable experience as a Research Trainee in the Middle East and North Africa Centre at Universiteit Leiden. While at Universiteit Leiden from February to October 2020, Mattia actively participated as a Student Representative on the educational committee for the MA in Middle Eastern Studies, focusing on seminar quality assessment and student event organization. Earlier, Mattia worked as a Social Worker at Fondazione San Filippo Neri, where responsibilities included managing the bureaucratic needs of unaccompanied minor migrants and creating individualized educational plans. Educationally, Mattia holds a Research Master in Middle Eastern Studies from Leiden University and a Bachelor's degree in History from Alma Mater Studiorum – Università di Bologna, complemented by an Erasmus Exchange at The University of Göttingen.
