Jan Rath

Jan Rath is a Professor of Urban Sociology at the University of Amsterdam, with a career starting in February 1993. Rath has held several significant positions, including Chair of the Department of Sociology and Anthropology and Chair of the Board of Social Sciences. Rath serves as a researcher at both the Center for Urban Studies and the Institute for Migration and Ethnic Studies. Additionally, Rath holds roles as a Guest Professor at Anton de Kom University of Suriname and as an Associate Research Fellow at Koç University in Istanbul. Engagements include positions on the board of the not-for-profit organization JINC and previous visiting roles at various international institutions. Educational qualifications include a PhD in Social Sciences and multiple degrees from Utrecht University.
