Amanda Vincent

Chair at IUCN

Amanda Vincent is a distinguished academic and researcher in marine conservation, currently serving as a Professor and Canada Research Chair at The University of British Columbia since July 2002. Additionally, Amanda holds the position of Chair for the IUCN SSC Seahorse, Pipefish and Stickleback Specialist Group since 2000 and has been the Director of Project Seahorse since 1996. Prior to these roles, Amanda was an Associate Professor and William Dawson Scholar at McGill University from 1996 to 2002, a Darwin Senior Research Fellow at the Department of Zoology, University of Oxford from 1994 to 1996, and an Ernest Cook Senior Research Fellow at Somerville College, University of Oxford from 1991 to 1994. Amanda earned a Ph.D. in Zoology from The University of Cambridge (1985-1990) and an Honours B.Sc. in Zoology from Western University.
