Tony O'Dowd has a diverse and extensive work experience in the software development and localization industry. Tony has held various leadership roles in different companies throughout their career. Tony started as a Principal Development Engineer at Lotus Development Corporation and later became General Manager and Director at Corel Corporation. Tony also served as a Technology Manager at Symantec Corporation and established a localization factory for Corel's localization efforts. O'Dowd founded Alchemy Software Development and Xcelerator Ltd., where they focused on creating machine translation software and cloud-based computing technologies. Currently, they are serving as Head of Research at Keywords Studios, leading a team of developers and overseeing the design and delivery of technologies for Text, Audio, and QA services.
Tony O'Dowd pursued a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science from Trinity College Dublin from 1985 to 1989. In 2009, they completed a Fellowship in the Localization Industry at University Limerick. In 2011 and 2012, they conducted research on MT in the Cloud at Dublin City University, focusing on Cloud Computing.
