Dimitris Argyropoulos is a Professor of Chemistry at North Carolina State University since September 2002, focusing on the utilization of renewable carbon from trees through the detailed examination of lignin and cellulose reactions during biomass transformation processes. Argyropoulos also serves as a Visiting Distinguished Professor at King AbdulAziz University and held the title of Finland Distinguished Professor at the University of Helsinki from January 2008 to December 2011. Previously, Argyropoulos was a Professor at McGill University from October 1991 to September 2002 and held the position of Paprican Professor & Principal Scientist at Paprican from February 1987 to September 2002, where fundamental research led to the development of quantitative 31P NMR techniques widely used in the field. Argyropoulos earned a Ph.D. in Organic Polymer Chemistry from McGill University and a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry & Polymer Chemistry from the University of London.
