Jean-Pierre "JP" Nunez is an accomplished culinary professional with extensive experience in high-end hospitality settings. Currently serving as the Executive Chef at Kisawa Sanctuary since December 2022, JP has previously held key positions including Executive Chef at Anantara Bazaruto Island and Executive Sous Chef roles at Minor Hotels and Fairmont Zimbali Lodge and Resort. With a career spanning over a decade, JP's expertise also encompasses leadership roles at The Square Boutique Hotel and Spa, Tsogo Sun, and Sun International. JP's educational background includes a degree in Hospitality Administration/Management from THETA, completed between 2003 and 2004.

Kisawa Sanctuary is a new standard in luxury hospitality, located on Benguerra Island, Mozambique. Kisawa means unbreakable and this defines our commitment: to build a bond between people and place, life and land. Founded and directed by Nina Flohr and her team at design studio NJF, the property is located across 300-hectares of beachfront calm and coastal forest in a national marine park off the east coast of Mozambique. 14 individually designed bungalows across 8 Residences sit within sheltered coves among the sand dunes overlooking the expanse of the Indian Ocean. At the heart of the sanctuary, guests discover shared spaces dedicated to dining, relaxation and wellbeing, along with an expansive Natural Wellness Center (spa). The hospitality is generous and personalised, with a core sense of care at its heart. Since opening in November 2021, Kisawa has picked up several accolades including National Geographic Traveller’s “best island escape”, TIME’s “world’s greatest places” and Travel + Leisure’s “global innovation” award.
