Lao Conservation Trust for Wildlife

We are the Lao Conservation Trust for Wildlife, a Lao registered nonprofit wildlife center operating in Laos PDR, a key corridor for the illegal wildlife trade in South-east Asia, as a gateway between Thailand, Myanmar, Vietnam and China. We are a multi-species rescue, conservation and education nonprofit; incredibly uniquely placed to address the crisis driving the rapid decline of many endangered species, through our 24/7 national wildlife rescue hotline, rehabilitation work and advocacy efforts. We operate a multi-species wildlife center in Asia’s hotspot for trafficking, just north of Laos’ capital Vientiane. We work with authorities here to investigate wildlife crime and rescue animals of any species, with an aim to rehabilitate and release wherever possible. Any animals deemed unsuitable for release are offered world-class care and refuge in our Wildlife Sanctuary. We offer paid opportunities in Animal Husbandry and Enrichment, Volunteer and Outreach Coordinator as well as Veterinary roles at our site in Ban Keun, Laos PDR, working with unique and rare wildlife. We also host volunteers exclusively offering ethical no-animal-contact experiences, ensuring that wildlife stays wild instinctively. For example, our husbandry and enrichment program volunteers help to intellectually and physically stimulate animals by creating enrichment and challenging them to act as they would in the wild. We also offer other volunteer opportunities, including Veterinary and Vet Nurse internships, and also accept professional donation of talent. We are proud to work with global conservation organizations and governments, developing legislation to protect threatened species in South-east Asia, as well as educational outreach programs through schools and visits to encourage the people of Laos to take stewardship of their unique biodiversity.
