David Carroll

Dave Carroll is Senior Vice President & Chief Legal and Corporate Responsibility Officer (CLO) for Lenovo. Prior to this, he served as General Counsel for Lenovo’s Intelligent Devices Group and Group Operations for four years, as well as overseeing legal support for Trademarks, Marketing, and Data Privacy and Security. Dave also ran the Global Brand Licensing business for eight years, a business that generates significant revenue by licensing the Motorola and Lenovo brands around the world. Dave joined Lenovo with the acquisition of Motorola Mobility LLC in 2014 and has more than 25 years of legal experience in the technology sector.

As General Counsel of the Intelligent Devices Group, Dave led and oversaw a range of complex global legal issues, including intellectual property infringement and licensing, litigation, privacy, product security, and trade and regulatory compliance. His role involved counseling the business on ways to mitigate risk, advising on strategic investments and acquisitions, resolving commercial disputes, and generating licensing income for the business. Prior to this, Dave served as the General Counsel of Motorola, as well as primary legal counsel to the Global Marketing organization.

Before joining Lenovo, Dave practiced in-house at Sears and the Amway Corporation, where he specialized in marketing and advertising law. Dave holds a bachelor’s degree in Philosophy from the University of Illinois and earned his law degree from Northwestern University School of Law in Chicago.
