Lomar Shipping

Lomar is a leading ship owner and ship management group with a diversified fleet of around 40 container vessels, bulk carriers, and chemical and product tankers. With nearly 50 years of industry expertise as a leading ship owner and operator, our fleet facilitates the movement of a multi-million-tonne cargo portfolio annually. We work globally with major first-class and blue-chip organisations, from charterers to shipping professionals, regulatory authorities and governments. Originally known for our fleet of ‘reefers’ – refrigerated cargo ships – Lomar has broadened its interests over close to five decades with a growing and mixed sector fleet. This diversity has allowed us to invest in market cycles, while maintaining a growth strategy that has seen us trade over 150 vessels. This included the ordering of 43 ECO new buildings (container ships and 'Ultramax' bulk carriers) from Chinese shipyards for over $1bn - while also disposing of assets during optimum periods. Lomar Shipping completed the acquisition of Carl Büttner Holding in 2022, uniting two family-run companies and further building our tanker fleet. A 166-year-old shipowner and manager, it is also known for its technical management expertise and includes CB Maritime in Rijeka, Croatia, a dedicated crewing agency for the tanker fleet. Among our shared values, Lomar and Carl Büttner are both dedicated to growing the next generation of maritime leaders – including our Achim Boehme Scholarship program that is supporting shipping students at Hochschule Bremen - City University of Applied Sciences. Lomar is a subsidiary of Libra Group, a privately-owned global business group with 30 operating entities - 20 businesses in 60 countries predominantly focused on aviation leasing, renewable energy (solar, wind and waste-to-energy projects), maritime (including shipbuilding for the offshore wind sector), real estate and hospitality, diversified investments and 10 social & humanitarian initiatives.
