Earlier professional experience includes working as a Financial Recruiter at CarterPierce, LLC from December 2012 to April 2015, specializing in recruiting for private equity funds and hedge funds. Kara holds an Executive Certificate in Sports Philanthropy from The George Washington University, and has completed a CA Multiple Subject Teaching Credential at California State University, Bakersfield, following studies at UC Irvine.

The team originated in as the Minneapolis Lakers, moved to Los Angeles prior to the 1960 season. In their time in Los Angeles, the Lakers have called the Sports Arena, The Great Western Forum and STAPLES Center home.
