Stan Schymanski is a Lead R&D associate at the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) since August 2017, focusing on fundamental and applied research regarding the behavior of water and vegetation in changing environments. Prior to this, Stan served as a Senior Scientist at the Swiss Data Science Center and a Scientist at ETH Zurich, where research, publishing, and teaching were key responsibilities. Earlier experience includes a Research Scientist role at the Max Planck Institute for Biogeochemistry, and a PhD in Ecohydrology from The University of Western Australia, where exploration into environmental systems was central. Additional positions included work as a Scientific Assistant at the Forstliche Versuchs- und Forschungsanstalt Baden-Wuerttemberg and marketing-related roles at Microsoft. Stan earned a Diplom in Biology from the University of Freiburg and completed foundational studies in Biology at Technische Universität Darmstadt.
