Gianpiero Tirella

Gianpiero Tirella, CTP, currently serves as the Senior Director of Treasury at the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) since June 2025. Previously, Gianpiero held the position of Treasurer at the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) from January 2016 to June 2025, managing a debt portfolio exceeding $5 billion and overseeing a cash and investment portfolio of $2 billion. Earlier experience includes roles at MassHousing from November 2006 to January 2016 and at BNY Mellon and Investors Bank & Trust in various treasury and fund accounting positions. Gianpiero holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Salem State University and a Graduate Certificate in Public Management from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.
