Erwan Piriou

Erwan Piriou is a seasoned laboratory coordinator and advisor currently serving at Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) since May 2011, with a focus on laboratory activities and neglected tropical diseases across various countries including the DRC, Ethiopia, and Venezuela. Piriou is involved in training field staff, developing diagnostic strategies, and participating in working groups related to malaria, HIV, and hepatitis. Prior to MSF, experience includes roles as a scientist and consultant at the Kenya Medical Research Institute, where Piriou managed studies on malaria and Epstein-Barr virus, and held postdoctoral and doctoral positions focused on vaccine development and immunology. Piriou holds a PhD in Immunology from the University of Amsterdam and an MSc in Biology from Wageningen University & Research.
