Lisa Boyle, MD, is vice president of Medical Affairs for MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, overseeing physician relations, as well as quality and safety. She also serves as a liaison between management and the hospital’s medical staff.
Prior to this role, Dr. Boyle spent 20 years at MedStar Washington Hospital Center, where she held multiple physician leadership roles, such as associate chair of the Department of Surgery, chief of the Division of Endocrine Surgery, director of the Residency Program, secretary of the Medical Staff and chair of the Medical Staff Bylaws Committee. She also has held the positions of interim president, vice president and secretary of the Medical Staff and served for two years as the chair of the MedStar Health Medical Policy Committee.
During her time at MedStar Washington Hospital Center, Dr. Boyle performed an average of 350 surgeries per year, and continues to treat patients and perform nearly 200 surgeries per year at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in addition to her administrative responsibilities.
Dr. Boyle is a board-certified surgeon, specializing in thyroid and parathyroid surgeries. She earned her medical degree from the Georgetown University School of Medicine, completing her residency at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. Dr. Boyle is actively involved in research in the areas of thyroid disease and thyroid cancer with a number of scholarly journals publishing her research. In addition, Dr. Boyle was listed among Castle Connolly’s Top Doctors 2012.
