T.J. Senker

President & SVP, Montgomery Medical Center at MedStar Health

As president of MedStar Montgomery Medical Center, T.J. Senker, FACHE, is responsible for the overall strategic and operational direction of the hospital and the MGH Health Foundation, with a primary focus on building and advancing the hospital’s service lines, programs and clinical quality. He is also a senior vice president for MedStar Health, a $5 billion not-for-profit health system serving Maryland and the Washington, D.C., region.

With a healthcare career spanning 17 years, Senker is an experienced leader and change agent who has leveraged Lean Six Sigma methodologies to achieve higher levels of quality and safety at lower costs. Prior to this role, Senker served as the hospital’s chief operating officer. Before his time at MedStar Montgomery, he served as vice president of Regional Integration and Operations for MedStar, leading service optimization, performance improvement and integration activities across the system’s Baltimore-based entities. He also worked at MedStar Good Samaritan Hospital starting in 2008 as the vice president of Professional Services and subsequently became vice president of Operations for four years.

Prior to MedStar, Senker worked for Saint Mary’s Health System/Saint Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury, Conn., as vice president of Operations. He also served as an assistant administrator for Support Services at the University of Southern California (USC) University Hospital in Los Angeles, while completing his master’s in healthcare administration from USC. He began his career with Andersen Consulting and graduated cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Georgetown University.

An adjunct assistant professor in the Department of Health Services Administration at Georgetown University, Senker is board-certified in healthcare management as a fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives. He currently serves as a board member for the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce and Montgomery Cares and is part of the 2016 class for Leadership Montgomery.
