Hugh Rubin

Hugh Rubin has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning over several decades. Hugh began their career in 1987 at Arup as a CAD Systems Engineer/Consultant, where they were responsible for planning, system specifications, system setup, employee training, project management, and system upgrades for major infrastructure projects.

In 1993, Hugh joined Microsoft, starting as a Product Designer/Program Manager in the Shell UI Design Team and later becoming a Program Manager/Lead Program Manager in the Kids Product Unit. Hugh'sresponsibilities included driving overall product visions, writing specifications, managing budgets, and overseeing prototype design and production for children's entertainment and educational CD-ROM titles.

Hugh then transitioned to the Desktop Finance Division at Microsoft as a Program Manager, where they managed feature set definition and design.

From 1998 to 1999, Hugh worked as a Program Manager in the Learning Business Unit at Microsoft, focusing on the feature set definition and design of content assembly components for Microsoft's web-based Online Learning Platform/Application.

In 2005, Hugh became a Principal Engineering Manager in the Online Division at Microsoft. Hugh managed a team of approximately 150 PMs, Developers, and Testers located in various global offices, responsible for developing deep content sites, auto-generated portal homepages, and custom-ad offerings for key international markets and brand advertisers.

In 2006, Hugh relocated to London to build a global Engineering team for MSN Media teams in 40+ markets worldwide. Hugh oversaw global market delivery teams, market solutions teams, and vendor-sourced distributed development programs. Hugh'sresponsibilities included prioritizing and implementing features in collaboration with core feature teams, the Global Media Group, and Product Planning.

Hugh held various Partner positions at Microsoft, including Partner Director of Program Management for Microsoft News, Partner GPM for MSN + Bing Apps, and Partner GPM for Travel, Entertainment, Video, and Autos online verticals.

In 2015, Hugh moved to London again to create a consolidated team of Market PMs to support media teams in over 60 markets as a Partner GPM for Microsoft News. Hugh focused on developing consistent processes, driving efficiencies, sharing best practices, defining product requirements, and ensuring market readiness and product deployments.

In 2018, Hugh transitioned to a role as a Product Management Consultant at Mesmerise, and in 2021, they became an Affiliate Partner at Alfatti.

Hugh Rubin has a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Mechanical Engineering from Imperial College London. Hugh also holds a Master of Design (MDes) degree in Computer Related Design from Royal College of Art.
