Kelly McGroddy is an experienced professional in optical technologies and engineering management, currently serving as Director at Meta since March 2024, focusing on the development of new optical technologies for virtual reality. Prior to this role, Kelly held the position of Senior Engineering Manager at Facebook in the AR/VR division since May 2020 and took a personal sabbatical from August 2018 to April 2020. Previously, Kelly worked at Apple as a Senior Engineering Manager in Hardware from May 2014 to July 2018, and was Director of LED Device Technology at LuxVue from December 2012 to May 2014. Early in the career, Kelly served as Senior Scientist and Program Manager at Xicato from November 2008 to December 2012, contributing to advancements in LED lighting technology. Kelly earned a Ph.D. in Materials Science from UC Santa Barbara and a B.S. in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania.
