John McGovern has extensive experience in security operations and law enforcement. Currently serving as the Director of Security Operations at the State of NY Metropolitan Transportation Authority since January 2010, McGovern oversees 24/7 security management, including training, inspections, and contract compliance. Previously, McGovern held positions as Assistant Chief Officer for Special Investigations & System Security and Director of Internal Studies & Operations Improvement at the same authority. McGovern's background also includes academic experience as an Adjunct Lecturer in Criminal Justice at Queensborough Community College from 2010 to 2013, and significant tenure with the City of New York Police Department, culminating as Lieutenant Commander of the Internal Affairs Bureau Police Impersonation Investigation Unit. McGovern earned a Master of Public Administration from Marist College and attended the FBI National Academy.
