Nick Donald has a diverse work experience starting as a Collections Consultant at Receivables Management (NZ) Limited in 2008. Nick then moved on to roles at University of Otago, Ignite Consultants, and Deloitte New Zealand. Most recently, they worked at ACC New Zealand as Manager, Channel Strategy and Principal Advisor before taking on their current role as Lead on Farm Emissions Calculation at the Ministry for Primary Industries in 2023.

Nick Donald completed their Bachelor of Commerce degree in Operations, Strategy, and Organizational Theory at the University of Otago in 2011. In the same year, they also achieved a Postgraduate Diploma with Distinction in Strategy and Operations from the same university. Later, in 2019, they pursued an MBA from the University of Otago, which they completed in 2021. Additionally, they obtained certifications in areas such as Investment Logic Mapping, P3O Practitioner, and Certified SAFe® 4 Agilist.
