Stephen Cobb is an experienced professional in the field of biosecurity and animal health, currently serving as Principal Adviser, Standards and Import Pathways at the Ministry for Primary Industries since January 2020. With a strong background in biosecurity risk management, Stephen has held various leadership roles within MPI, including Manager Animal Health and Director Animal Health and Welfare. Prior to rejoining MPI, Stephen was the Manager of New Organism Applications at the Environmental Protection Authority NZ and a Partner at SRC Associates. Stephen’s expertise is underscored by a career that began as a Veterinary Surgeon and includes significant contributions to quality assurance systems through involvement with the European Food Safety Authority. Stephen holds a BVM&S in Veterinary Medicine & Surgery and a BSc in Biochemistry from The University of Edinburgh.
