Nicholas Yaraghi, Ph.D.

Materials Science Team Lead at Modern Meadow

Nicholas Yaraghi, Ph.D. has a diverse work experience in the field of materials research and development. Nicholas is currently serving as a Senior Research Scientist at Modern Meadow since April 2023. Prior to this, they worked as a Materials Research Scientist II at the same company from January 2020 to April 2023, and as a Materials Research Scientist from December 2018 to January 2020.

Before joining Modern Meadow, Nicholas worked at the University of California, Riverside as a Graduate Student Researcher and NDSEG Fellow from September 2013 to June 2018. During this time, they investigated structure-mechanical property relationships in impact-resistant natural composite materials, conducted advanced microscopy, spectroscopy, and mechanical testing, designed experiments, and developed reliability test procedures.

In addition, Nicholas had an internship at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in 2015, where they investigated additive manufacturing techniques for biomimetic biopolymer-based composite scaffolds inspired by the mantis shrimp dactyl club. Nicholas successfully developed and demonstrated 3D printing of chitosan-based inks.

Nicholas's early work experience includes being an Undergraduate Researcher and ASPIRE Scholar at the University of Maryland from July 2010 to May 2013. During this time, they focused on stimuli-responsive self-assembled systems, including those tunable by light. Nicholas also developed a phase-selective gelation system with applications for oil leakage prevention and presented their research findings through written and oral reports.

Overall, Nicholas Yaraghi, Ph.D. has an extensive background in materials research and development, with expertise in characterizing and analyzing composite materials, conducting experiments, and developing innovative solutions.

Nicholas Yaraghi, Ph.D. has a strong educational background in materials science and engineering. From 2013 to 2018, they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Materials Science and Engineering at the University of California, Riverside. Prior to that, from 2009 to 2013, Nicholas studied Chemical Engineering at the University of Maryland - A. James Clark School of Engineering, where they attained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree. In terms of earlier education, Nicholas attended Saint James School from 2004 to 2009, but no specific degree or field of study is provided for this period.

In addition to their formal education, Nicholas Yaraghi has obtained a certification called "Project Management Foundations" from LinkedIn. Nicholas acquired this certification in May 2023.
