Karan M. has an extensive work experience in the finance industry. Karan is currently the Head of Structured Credit Trading at Monarch Alternative Capital LP since September 2023. Prior to this, they worked at Marathon Asset Management as the Director of CRE / CMBS, and later as the Senior Vice President from June 2019 to September 2023. Before that, they held roles at Ares Management, L.P. as a Vice President in Structured Credit - CMBS, and as a Senior Associate in Real Estate Debt from March 2014 to June 2019. Karan also had experience at Citi as an Associate in Credit Derivatives Research and as an Analyst in CMBS & Real Estate Finance. Karan had internships at UBS, BNP Paribas, Citi Wealth Management, and JobConcierge Executive Job Search. Karan also worked as a Research Assistant at NYU Stern School of Business and volunteered at The Boys' Club of New York.
Karan M. earned a BA in Economics from New York University from 2008 to 2011. Karan later obtained a Graduate Certificate in Quantitative Methods in Finance from Stanford University, studying from 2012 to 2014. Additionally, they became a CAIA Charterholder in 2014.
